On the other hand, this subtly underlying sense of self-absorbed egomania actually serves Niccol's Lord of War to its advantage, assisted by the madly passionate acting talents of Nicolas Cage, and the crime drama is arguably his best effort and remains as such, in my estimate. Throughout all of this, his relationship with his younger brother and partner, Vitaly Jared Leto , starts to show signs of cracking as does his marriage to a beautiful model named Ava Fontaine Bridget Moynahan.
Lord of War is straight up about the arms trade business. Much of this came when comparing the same scenes, and finding that the rendering of color was not only slightly deeper, but seemingly more delineated. There is often nice discrete placement of effects, again often quite subtly that same opening sequence offers clear sounds of distant gunfire in the left channel. It is also arguable that 'Lord of War's failure at the box office is because it is so nihilistic. Nicholas Cage drives the film easily and most of the film is having fun watching him bounce off everyone they give him to play with.
Our only complaint is a low-end that doesn't quite deliver the impact some of the visuals would imply.
