Her dancing doesn't rely on the Maddie-style of melodrama. No idea why Makenzie topped the pyramid either. When her team placed 5th, the lowest place recognized, she celebrated joyously because the other studio had not placed. I think that by this point in the game it's all wearing thin for the original girls. With regards to it being implied that Nia should've been better at the African dance than Kalani because she's black. I remember being in dance school as a child but I doubt that the dance moms were ever that ruthless.
When Abby was critiquing Brynn and Jill was standing there with that self-righteous smirk- ugh! The kids in this dance troupe are competitive which makes it hard to watch at times. We weren't shown how 'private' the voting process was. You keep talking to yourself. For those who are baffled by selfish parenting, this show is nowhere close to entertainment. Abbey Lee Miller is the owner and director of the Abby Lee Dance Company. They can be verbally abusive at times towards the children and their mothers. And so what if you don't really get along with some of the other girls, you can be polite and avoid the eye rolling for the little time you're with them.
Melissa's been the biggest pushover, and the new mom figured out that's what works pretty quickly. I feel so bad for the late girl though, dropping her prop. I noticed that too and honestly, I hope that bites her in the ass. Long term lurker here and big fan of Dance Moms since very first episode. For example, I'm of Chinese descent and it's been implied many times that I should be fantastic at piano playing and math, and guess what? The same Maddie she bitched about for seasons. Eventually, her actions all blend together into one long line of self-promotion.
So I feel bad for them, but yeah, that dance was far from perfect. This is where she got her start, she wouldn't have been noticed by Sia or have the burgeoning career she has without Dance Moms. But only a handful of girls onstage. I noticed that too and honestly, I hope that bites her in the ass. For those that may have missed this, here is a new Maddie article.
I watched this show with my jaw hanging open. After one season of avoiding what appeared to be a disgrace of a television show, I finally gave in and watched an episode with my roommates. Then I decided to give the show a shot. I know it's politically correct to say that all people are the same no matter what their background. For those viewers out there who enjoy the ins and out of drama, this show is waiting for you to sink your teeth into it. The drama about Peyton not being able to keep up - if these new moms are true Dance Moms addicts - they know full well that Mac was excluded from a lot of the dances because she couldn't keep up or they weren't age appropriate in the beginning. Each time it was rejected for submission.
And I really wish people would stop trying to put words in Abby's mouth that she didn't say. And those girls were phenomenal. They know how to do the dance because they signed up for a class, not because they are African American. After all, it is 2019: the year to be offended by just about everything. Dance Moms will be back with brand new episodes June 4 on Lifetime. You leave Queen Debbie out of this.
And they have the most inappropriate conversations in front of those kids. She's tall and will get taller. I am from Canada and started at 4 years old doing tap, jazz, and ballet until I 20. You don't come into this world with some natural knowledge based on race and I think that stance is downright silly. So what Nia had 3 weeks of African dance. Whenever a mom would ask her if she was planning on staying or coming back next week, she'd give a sarcastic, bitchy answer and a fake smile.
Anyway, I agree that Maddie looked bored during the commercial segments, but I don't blame her. I'm not a dancer so I might be wrong in this but I feel like they both danced on an equal level. Or at least it makes sense. It would be just as ridiculous to say that a white kid should be naturally good at square dance because they are white. But that's not to say that she isn't a proud geek, nerd, and dork of all flavors. Laurieann loses her patience with the moms at competition in an explosive face-off. Jumping to conclusions about who signs up for what based on a snippet of one class also seems silly to me.
