I can not put my children in a vehicle that I have no idea what is gonna do if I could not have got my car to a parking spot we would have been hit on this road. Motor electronics cooling pump for hybrid system needed replacement, as per recall. They discovered the coolant leaking back into the engine. If the recall was performed but the car exhibited the problem anyways, no matter how far it was driven since then, that tells me that the recall solution did not work. After 10 minutes, attempted to pull over and check, vehicle died on exit ramp and would not start for several minutes. The failure mileage was 39,572. I'm going to try and get rid of this thing.
After further research I see that I am not the only 2014 Ford Escape owner that has been told that although they have this same safety issue our vehicle is not included in the recall. Codes were read and a new oxygen sensor was fitted. Engine was not heating to operating temp soon enough. Sorry for being late for your birthday but your cedar grill scrapers are ready for delivery. Topped off the coolant level and about 2 days later the coolant level light comes back on. This works for about 3 fillups before repeating. Pedal hinge points inside cabin were lubricated, no help. The leak occurs both when the car is stationary or in motion as evident of the pool of coolant under the car in the driveway. Changed Coil On Plug on 5 cylinder. Instead, in a somewhat unprecedented move, Ford sent tow trucks to pick up the affected vehicles and handed out rental cars while the owners waited for repairs. Previous regular service did not indicate coolant leakage, nor was any found leaking under car in driveway.
Ford knows of issue and will come out with a re-flash for the engine software this summer. Baffles in muffler had broken, very loud. The contact requested documentation, but the contact refused due to the damages being attributed to the recall. Codes indicated misfiring cylinder 5. Unable to remove from mounting hole. The coolant leaked into the engine and my gasket had to be replaced. Dealership was unable to discover leak or issue.
Hood was popped and coolant investigated. The coolant bypass valve failed which made the check engine light come on. Dealer noted that the coolant level was low; added coolant. I currently have approximately 39,000 miles on this vehicle. Torque Converter shudder is gone.
The car would stalled all the time with my kids in the car but as soon as I opened the reservoir to add more it fill almost completely back up. Heritage Ford vt is now claiming no responsibility for this action, stating, in order for this vehicle to be repaired I the customer will have to purchase a new engine due to heritage Ford vt negligence of replacing a coolant sensor correctly. They used a diagnostic code that said the same thing but one of the mechanics related he had just fixed a Ford Escape having the same issue and that they had then figured out there was a recall for the problem. Ford parts 3 Replaced exhaust manifold gasket. Recently, the car would just stop out of no where. Towed to dealer, and they couldn't find a problem. After vehicle is turned off for a few seconds, alarms go off and temperature gage returns to normal operating temperature.
When replaced the pump may be covered. Vehicle has about 55,000 miles with all preventive services performed. Expected symptom after previous problem could not be reproduced- dealer said vent valve failure was likely with time, but driving was safe. Fairly common w early Escape hybrids. Every time the coolant was replaced, it would leak out. You can look for photos you like for info objectives. Repair delay due to replacement part shipping and testing. On way home from shop check engine light went on, turned around and then it was discovered it was probable the main electrical harness, changed it out. Could have been an ignition coil, another spark plug, maybe even the fuel filter.
My car, leaking engine coolant, is exactly that described in Ford safety recall 17s09. The vehicle was driving when the light came on while on the highway. Ford has issued Special Service Message 22065 but as of October 2011 has not released a fix other than checking engine mounts. I purchased this vehicle on June 6, 2014. Should the date range be changed?. This feature was not implemented for 2013 model year.
