My opinion about Goodyear could fill a book. No one can tell me why. Order several bottles to keep on hand to use throughout the year. I have never found a leak yet. Place new filter on, screw in to hand tight againt block, then half a turn more. But engines and synthetic oils are so much more advanced these days, you can easily double your oil's longevity. I finally gave it up and bought a new car, a 2013 Accord V6 of all things.
Just pour in with old oil, let idle around 15 minutes do not drive! I would add 3 quarts than check the dip stick and add accordingly, before I started the engine. Every 700 miles I have to add a quart or more of oil. In fact, Goodyear had to rebore it to make the new filter fit. If it isn't printed on the oil cap, check your owners manual for the exact type before adding new oil. Small rare issues, oil drain bolt and crush washer should be replaced. Then remove the the single bolt going through the center of the rubber bushing. Works in gas or diesel engines.
As oil drians remove oil filler cap from valve cover, this will help it drain quicker and more thoroughly. Steam clean the engine or get it detailed so you can see what is going on. Highly recommend 4 qt oil , 1 qt treatment after an oil change. If you are unsure how much oil to add to your Accord, add a little bit at a time and check your dipstick frequently. It becomes annoying as I don;t know when I am going to run out of oil, so I have to check about twice a week, which is way too frequent. If compression improves substantially, then you know that the rings are bad.
In addition to having a factory-bad transmission and many other issues with the car, this car just started using oil - suddenly and excessively. Have a mechanic properly replace oil filter with a napa pro oil filter. Dont fo to Walmart, their oil filters suck, and they dont do a proper seal when replacing an oil filter 80% of the time. Set ramps immediately in front of wheels, back up a bit then drive forward slowly, have a friend watch and guide. No clue where the oil is going. Oil filter wrench may be needed, depend son how tight last one was put on.
I find car in good shape. Just make sure they show you the engine dipstick to verify a full pan once the work has been completed. I had this same problem or condition in my old 626 with about 150000 miles, but on a car this new it is simply unacceptable. Oil will spill out in an arc and will be hot if you drove any distance recently so place pan under and away from drain hole. Do not go by vehicle's oil life monitor when using this oil.
No oil on the ground and the car passed Ontario emissions testing in April 2007. All of these fluids are extremely harmful to your eyes and skin so it is important to protect yourself.
