It has 128000miles on the odometer and the way it feels, it could take another 100000. I had been looking for a Ford Crown Victoria prior to seeing the Oldsmobile Intrigue. Key targets include the Nissan Maxima and V-6 versions of the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Faults: Oh my god everything! Signals work when they want since about 110k. It stops a bit shorter and changes directions without drama. Intrigue even looked like a little Aurora.
It generates 215 horsepower and, more importantly, 230 foot-pounds of torque. Too bad, as the Intrigue's platform partners from Buick and Pontiac don't get to enjoy the torquey and reasonably smooth 3. General Comments: I have had my Intrigue for 8 years now and still love it. On all 2001 Alero the hazard switches have been recalled for defect, but Oldsmobile has not recalled the ones on the Intrigue, enough of them have not failed and the switches are doing the same thing. It's been overheating for a couple of months, and it was diagnosed as the thermostat, which was replaced. Very happy I purchased an Intrigue. However when I started having mechanical problems with it, I sometimes wonder how reliable the car is since it is in the shop more than I drive it. All are four-door, five-passenger sedans.
Interestingly enough, Oldsmobiles are selling like crazy, contrary to what some automotive analysts feared. At about the same time I also noticed that the car does not shift well sometimes, and that it will shift very hard into the next gear. The interior design is not too bold, but it is stylish. Have had issues with Brakes, Front end suspension and Wheel bearings. I have also noticed that sometimes my drivers side window does not want to work. Similarly, the location of the emergency flasher and main cruise control switches, stacked to the right of the instrument nacelle, is ideal because they are easy to find and easy to reach in a hurry. Oldsmobile calls its version the Precision Control System, and it applies the brakes to individual wheels when sensors detect the car is about to skid.
The vehicle handles well for a large mid-sized car, and it accelerates really quickly. Horrible get up and go. Unless otherwise indicated, specifications refer to test vehicle. The Intrigue seats four people comfortably, or its rear seats can be folded down to make room for a lot of luggage. Tax, tags, title, administration fees, and license fees are not included in price or payment.
General Comments: The car is so far extremely reliable except for the hazard flasher switch. It is botha sporty vehicle and a family vehicle. The exterior styling is really good, trunk space is huge, and the engine is powerful. Aggressive 16-inch wheels fill the wheel wells. Faults: Drivers window operator failed at about 30,000.

The Intrigue provides quick, accurate steering, agile handling, excellent high-speed stability and a nice ride quality on bumpy roads. Use nothing but the best parts and oil on it. My family has been buying Oldsmobiles since 1947 and we don't have any complaints about them except that they are stopping the production! Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. Quick transitions produce a fair amount of body roll, however.
It started with the left turn signal, and I kept replacing all the bulbs, and the front left turn signal bulb was getting melted. A very good value for used car price tag, still much life left after 76,000 miles. Chassis rigidity is the cornerstone of good vehicle dynamics. The Intrigue's time on the East Coast was over, and it…. I liked driving it in urban traffic for its tight feel and responsiveness. At 70,000 miles I had to replace the crankshaft sensor. Low points for interior design of cheap looking plastic appointments.
But otherwise, an excellent vehicle. The interior has great fit and finish and build quality is excellent; not a squeak or rattle even at nearly 50,000 miles! All controls are exactly where and how you expect them to be placed. At about 85,000 miles my shaft sensor went bad in my car, which resulted in the car stalling and rough starting.
